Diversification into Hatches with Fraser Gunn

Malin Group is pleased to announce that it has added a new Marine Hatches product range to its current marine equipment offering, with the appointment of Fraser Gunn as its new business unit manager.

Malin Hatches’ will be based at Malin’s existing Westway Business Park premises on the Clyde at Renfrew, with Fraser tasked with spearheading the company’s provision of gas and watertight hatches and doors for fixed and floating offshore platforms and marine craft.

Gunn brings more than 20 years’ experience in supplying door and hatch products to the marine and offshore sectors, including A60, watertight, weatherproof and shock resistant products. Since taking up the post in February 2020, he has already secured a number of projects, with the first batches of hatches completing testing and shipped to satisfied clients.

Ben Sharples, Director at Malin Group said: “Malin Hatches builds on our existing marine product offering, allowing us to further develop established relationships with shipyards, vessel owners and suppliers of containerised accommodation. Hatches and marine doors have the right mix of structural and mechanical engineering and fabrication content to align well with our existing project execution capabilities. We can design, build, test and install them, all in house, establishing a well-integrated offering for our customers.”

Fraser is a very welcome addition to the Malin team. He brings two decades of expertise, providing clients in the marine and offshore sectors with bespoke, expertly designed, industry-tested products. During his career he has amassed valuable experience in the certifications and approvals required for products like ours and he has worked on many large-scale projects to supply clients all over the world with technical assistance. Fraser shares our ambition to see all of our products continue to be made in Scotland and we are confident his addition will cement our reputation as an industry-renowned turnkey solution.”

Welcome to the team Fraser!
